Daddy Says: "It's Called a Lament"

After church yesterday morning, Daddy shared some insight into his mission as a fledgling writer:

Daddy: "I've been thinking about it, and I've figured out what it is that I do."

Me: "I thought you had already decided that you write commentary like Andy Rooney."

Daddy: "Well, that's what I thought at first. But now I realize that what I do is not actually commentary—it's more of a lament. That's what I write—a lament."

Me: "Some people might call that, well, complaining . . . "
