This morning, I'm sitting by an open window, listening to a peaceful, rainy wind whisper through the trees. And I am saying a prayer for a friend who is feeling great pain and anger right now, someone who doesn't see how real peace could possibly be found in the teachings of an ancient book. Approach the throne of grace with confidence . . . Come unto me, all you who labor . . . you will find rest for your souls . . .
For we do not have a high priest
who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
but we have one who has been tempted in every way,
just as we are—yet was without sin.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,
so that we may receive mercy and
find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews 4:15-16
Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30
